Our first outing for 2025 is to Tunbridge Wells for coffee and on to Scotney Castle, a National Trust property. Set among 780 acres of parkland and ancient woodland, Scotney Castle was the home of Christopher Hussey, an architectural historian. It consists of a Victorian mansion, the Hussey family home, a landscaped garden, and also medieval moated ruins of the old castle in the valley. Rhododendrons and azaleas cascade across the garden in Spring and early Summer. There is a tea room and a shop.
The cost is £12 for National Trust members £30 for non National Trust members. The Social Club is again subsidising coach costs.
Pick up: Sutton Grove Road 8.30 am Wallington Shotfield 8.45 am
We will leave Scotney Castle at 4 pm.
